What is this project?

The City is undergoing a 12-month process of updating its zoning and subdivision ordinances. The ordinances will be consolidated into a Unified Development Code (UDC). The purpose of the update is to streamline existing processes, align with current State law, incorporate best practices, and to implement the recently adopted 2045 Comprehensive Plan. What is a UDC?

The Unified Development Code will be a set of standards that regulate the development and use of land. The current Chapter 10A Subdivision and Chapter 14A Zoning will be updated during this process.

How will the UDC be developed?

Consultant team Freese and Nichols, Inc. will work closely with City staff and several elected/appointed City officials throughout the process to guide the development of the new UDC. These City staff members and officials are referred to as the Technical Advisory Committee (TAC) and were selected based on their technical expertise related to development within the City.

Draft materials will be presented to the Planning & Zoning Commission and City Council at public meetings at several key points during the process. Ultimately, the Commission and Council will conduct public hearings before considering adoption of the new UDC.
